Assessment 2: Detailed Analysis - Contents Page (Q magazine)

This is the contents page for the issue of Q magazine featuring the singer, Lana Del Rey. The contents page of Q is very different in comparison to the contents page of NME, which I analysed.

'Contents' is in block capitals to establish to the reader what this page is about. The magazines slogan is also featured underneath the contents title, ''Discover great music.'' The main section of the page is in fact the 'features' it includes. '140 songs to download now', 'Lana Del Rey interview', and other artists the magazine features; Kings of Leon and Professor Green. A further feature of this page is that at the right hand side the white space is filled with pictures of the artists that are in this issue of Q (Lana, Professor Green and Kings of Leon.) This is an easy tool for the readers who do not want to read the contents and would rather just skip to the page where their favourite artist/s are featured, thus gaining easy and quick access to a particular page. The largest image on the page is Lana Del Rey, who is the main feature of this magazine. Q's layout use establishes her power in the magazine compared to the other artists.

Overall, I think that this contents page is very good aesthetically. It's easy enough to use and the colour scheme is favourable as it relates to the empowerment of the titles masthead (a red Q)
